Option 1: 1-Day EV Familiarisation & Assessment Course

Overview
A one-day immersive course designed to familiarise drivers and pool car users with electric vehicle operation, charging, and HSE-compliant safety practices.

Course Aim
To provide staff with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to operate and manage electric vehicles safely and in accordance with HSE and organisational policies.
Target Audience
Employees using or managing EVs within a corporate or council fleet (including pool car users).
Learning Outcomes
Participants will be able to:
- Identify key EV systems and safe operation features.
- Demonstrate proper pre-use checks and charging procedures.
- Understand key HSE and organisational compliance requirements.
- Recognise and control EV-related hazards.
- Respond effectively to incidents and emergencies.
Course Structure

(1) Welcome & EV Overview Introductions, EV technology, environmental benefits, and types of vehicles. 45 mins
(2) Safety, HSE & Compliance Review of HSE regulations (EAWR, PUWER, DSEAR). Identification of workplace EV risks. 1 hr
(3) Vehicle Familiarisation Guided EV walkaround, dashboard functions, regenerative braking 1 hr
(4) Charging Infrastructure Hands-on charging demonstration, cable management, fault reporting. 1 hr
(5) Risk Assessment & Emergency Procedures EV hazard recognition, isolation points, accident response. 1 hr
(6) Practical Assessment Vehicle operation and safe driving assessment on-site. 2 hrs
(7) Knowledge Check & Certification Written quiz and feedback session. 30 mins
Duration: 7 hours (1 full day)
Certification: EV Familiarisation & Safety Awareness (valid for 3 years)

Option 2: 3-Day EV Compliance, Safety & Risk Management Course
Overview
A three-day advanced training programme for fleet managers, compliance officers, and transport coordinators to ensure that EV policies, procedures, and risk assessments meet current HSE standards and organisational requirements.
Delivered at Mercedes-Benz World, Weybridge, with full Brooklands Hotel accommodation throughout.
Course Aim
To equip managers and supervisors with the tools to implement and oversee EV safety, compliance, and risk management systems effectively.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will be able to:
- Conduct EV-specific risk assessments.
- Implement compliant operational policies and procedures.
- Manage pool car systems and driver competency.
- Audit and monitor HSE compliance performance.
- Develop an ongoing EV safety culture across the organisation.
