UK Car Theory Test
1. Understand the Test Format
The UK car theory test has two parts:
Multiple-Choice Questions (50 questions, pass mark: 43)
Hazard Perception (14 video clips, pass mark: 44 out of 75)
You must pass both parts in the same sitting.
These cover all the facts and hazard perception skills you’ll be tested on.
2. Practice with Mock Tests
Use mock theory tests online,
Driving Test Success
3. Focus on the Hazard Perception Section
Watch practice clips regularly.
Learn to spot developing hazards (anything that may cause you to slow down or change direction).
Timing matters: click when the hazard starts to develop, but don’t over-click.
Top tip: Avoid clicking in a pattern—this may be flagged as cheating.
4. Study Little and Often
Do short study sessions daily (15–30 minutes).
Mix reading (e.g. Highway Code) with interactive practice (quizzes and clips).
5. Track Your Progress
Focus more on areas where you're weakest—like road signs, stopping distances, or rules of the road.
6. Final Week: Mock Exams
Simulate real exam conditions (no interruptions, time limit).
Aim to pass 5–6 full mock tests confidently before the real test.
